When T & C first walked in to the barn, I could tell they loved it but it was at one of our first meetings that a small item on the wall that many have never noticed stood out to them. A long time ago a friend of Bradstreet Farm gifted us a small brass door knocker in the shape of a pineapple. One day when we were working on the new design Mike went to take it down, but I stopped him. We had to keep it up! You see, the pineapple is the sign of hospitality and welcoming people in to the space. And we were just about to open a wedding venue that would welcome hundreds and hundreds of people. It had to stay. We picked a spot and it still hangs there today well over a year later. Then comes that day with T & C when they noticed our pineapple.... unlike so many people who had walked by it and never really noticed it before- they saw it right away! They love pineapples. It was meant to be. Their sunny wedding day was filled with bright pops of yellow, sunflowers, big smiles and of course pineapples! It was perfect. I smiled as I looked through all of their beautiful wedding photos that Lauren from LAD Photography sent it. Their wedding day really was perfect. Thank you for sharing your special day with us, T & C! In our first installment of our Vendor Spotlight, we are pleased to introduce catering rockstar Krisztina Perron, owner and lead chef of Wooden Spoon Catering Company! Krisztina grew up in the kitchen learning the recipes and traditions of her family’s culture. Her immediate family immigrated to the United States from Budapest, Hungary. Upon their arrival, most of them worked in the foodservice industry and eventually they owned and operated a few different restaurants throughout Massachusetts. Krisztina attended the culinary arts program at Whittier Vocational Technical High School in Haverhill, Massachusetts, where she studied culinary arts and hospitality. She was the first student to take advantage of the "fast-track program", an articulation agreement with Johnson & Wales University. This allowed her to finish her college degree early by testing out of introductory classes. She took that extra trimester to go back to Hungary to visit family and backpack around central Europe with her older sister. After completing her degree in Culinary arts, Krisztina worked at hotels and country clubs in both the fine dining restaurants and banquet kitchens. In April of 2013, she opened The Wooden Spoon Catering Company in Amesbury, MA and has since carved out a successful career as a wedding and event caterer. She has been awarded the "couples choice award" by weddingwire.com for the past three consecutive years, which is based on outstanding reviews from happy couples. Krisztina continues to share her love for her heritage and international cuisine through her public cooking classes at Kitchen Local in Amesbury, MA and Stonewall Kitchen Cooking School in York, ME . Krisztina has acquired her Massachusetts vocational teaching licenses in both culinary arts and hospitality and continues to learn and share her knowledge with the next generation of culinary professionals. Through sourcing local ingredients, Krisztina has built strong relationships with many local farms and artisans. By working together, they to provide fresh, top quality ingredients and goods to the Wooden Spoon Catering Company’s customers.
