What Wedding Vendors Actually Cost in New England

6/23/2026

After securing a venue, couples typically move on to booking vendors - the professionals who bring the day to life. Vendor costs vary widely based on experience, demand and customization, but understanding typical ranges helps with planning.

Average Vendor Pricing in New England
Typical investment ranges include:
  • Photography: $3,000–$8,000+
  • Videography: $2,000–$6,000
  • DJ: $1,500–$3,500
  • Live band: $6,000–$12,000+
  • Florals: $3,000–$9,000
  • Hair & Makeup: $200-600 per person
These categories together often account for 25–35% of the total budget.

Why Experience Affects Pricing
Established vendors often charge more because of their expertise, reliability, and demand. Couples frequently prioritize photography and entertainment since these elements have lasting impact and shape the overall atmosphere.

Evaluating Value vs. Price
When comparing vendors, consider:
  • Portfolio quality
  • Reviews and testimonials
  • Communication style
  • What’s included in packages
Choosing vendors you trust can reduce stress and ensure a smoother planning process.

Budget Strategies
Couples often stay on track by:
  • Prioritizing top-three must-have vendors
  • Booking early to lock in pricing
  • Considering shorter coverage hours

The Takeaway
Vendor costs can feel overwhelming, but they represent the people who create the experience and memories of your wedding day. Investing thoughtfully ensures your celebration feels seamless, personal, and well-executed.

At the Barn at Bradstreet Farm, we provide clients with a vetted list of  recommended vendors - all of whom have worked at the venue before. Importantly, vendors can't pay to get on our list - they have to earn their place by providing great service to previous clients - and we don't accept referral fees from vendors. (Pay-to-play is unfortunately very common in the wedding industry!)

If you aren't a Bradstreet client, we still recommend couples start by asking their venue for their vendor recs - just make sure the venue isn't making money from vendor referrals. If they are, their interests and yours aren't necessarily aligned.
